General : The jurassic test is a “race”, created to test vehicles that do not rely on traditional fuel on a demanding circuit in the Jura mountains. The 2008 edition favoured the most efficient vehicles, but this year the results will be primarily based on speed.
Vehicles : electric bikes, small electric cars, electric scooters, electro-solar vehicles but also standard bikes will compete. The test is an outing on an open road so the participants must have their licenses depending on the vehicle they are using. Priority will be given to light crafts but heavier ones are of course welcome to compete.
Circuit : The track starts in Sainte-Croix and takes the participants on a scenic route to the village of mauborget, then they will go downhill to Yverdon and back up the same road until the finish line in Sainte-Croix. (The uphill part of the course is the same the cyclists competing in the 2009 tour de romandie will take). The time will only be taken on the second part of the course (from Yverdon up) to avoid any unnecessary risks being taken on the way down. We estimate that this portion has about 18km of flat roads and 12km uphill for a total altitude difference of 900m. |
